Petitioning President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry
A US Marine Sgt being treated for PTSD in San Diego is now in a Mexican prison for making a wrong turn at the border.
Please don’t click away thinking this is someone else’s problem. This veteran fought for you. Please take the simple of act of standing with him by signing this petition!
US Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi was recently stationed in San Diego for treatment of his Post Traumatic Stress Disorder stemming from his service in Afghanistan.
He was traveling on unfamiliar roads to visit a friend when he inadvertently crossed a poorly marked border into Mexico.
Upon realizing his mistake he attempted to turn around and was confronted by Mexican Police. Sgt. Tahmooressi had 3 US legal firearms in his vehicle and he was immediately arrested and placed in a holding cell with drug dealers and murders who threatened to kill and rape this US soldier.
Sgt. Tahmooressi sustained a neck wound in this holding cell and his captors removed him and shackled him by the arms and legs to a prison bed.
This ordeal has now lasted more than 30 days.
This young soldier fought a war for us. If you’ve ever seen border crossings south of San Diego you understand how easy it would be to make this mistake and get lost. It is clearly obvious to everyone that this was a simple mistake and now a US Marine is facing the potential of 30 years in a Mexican prison for making a wrong turn with 3 legal firearms in his vehicle.

President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry
Our government must stand up for Sgt. Tahmooressi and use all diplomatic options to bring him home. This soldier needs to be on American soil receiving treatment for his PTSD, not locked up in Mexico for an innocent mistake.
